For my Quantitative Reasoning class, everyone had to do a math paper. There wasn't too many specifics going into the paper so everyone was free to do it about almost any topic that involves mathematics. I did my paper on the Anasazi's Sun Dagger located in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico. The Sun Dagger is an interesting piece of history because it shows that the Native Americans advanced amazingly fast, from their basket-making period to their pueblo making period. The math that I incorporated into the paper is how to calculate the zenith (still-standing) point of the sun during certain solstices. I'm glad I was able to write the paper on something I wanted. It was really interesting and not terribly unbearable. I actually liked making the powerpoint for my class (still was nervous to present it though) but it was fun and people found it interesting, which was a plus.
One file is my paper and the other is my powerpoint that I presented for class.
