Since I'm a simply complicated person...
I create infinite short-term goals and a few long-term goals.
They change at anytime, all the time.
My short-term goals are very, very short. The goals are made to go through a day or a week. I mostly make these goals to remember and keep track of what I do for that day and what I need to do. I do it to increase efficiency in my work while accurately carrying out my work. I also do it for school so I don't fall behind or try to cram everything at the end of a class, although sometimes, it happens.
Considering that I want to live until I've completed my long-term goals, I only have a few...well just a couple, of long-term goals.
Have a career. For now, I have a goal to gain a Geographic Information Systems Associates of Applied Science Degree. Find life-surviving love. I'm in love currently but as time flies, love might drift away and fly away with it. So a life-surviving love means a love that survives in my unpredictable life. I'm a slight romantic but I think that's a good thing, usually.
SLCC (Salt Lake Community College) developed these "Learning Outcomes" for students who attend their campuses.
The "Learning Outcomes" are:
- Acquire substantive knowledge in the discipline of their choice sufficient for further study, and/or demonstrate competencies required by employers to be hired and succeed in the workplace.
- Communicate effectively.
- Develop quantitative literacies necessary for their chosen field of study.
- Think critically.
- Develop the knowledge and skills to be civically engaged, and/or to work with others in a professional and constructive manner.
- I believe that their learning outcomes will help me with my career and job.
- If I earn my Associates in GIS, then I will be able to get into a SCEP (Student-Career Employment Program) position with my current employer. This position is more permanent than my current position as a STEP (Student-Temporary Employment Program) position. With a SCEP position, I will be considered a more permanent employee and if I finish my degree, I will be able to convert to a full-time employee. I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn about careers in the Forest Service before just jumping into it or studying it and learning that it's not something you want to do. It's also a great opportunity because it gives me so much time to grow and gives me a huge opportunity to have a career. With the economy as the way it is, it's hard to get, or even find, a simple job...let alone a career, even with training.
- I will be able to communicate effectively after my degree because I would have worked with others on group projects and communicated with various other small things. With my new knowledge of GIS, I will be able to go about my job with ease. I wouldn't have to sit there clueless and wonder how I will, or stress of how I will complete assignments.
