Since I took this class after I took my English 1010 class in the summer, I didn't have to do the group project that everyone else had to do. I just applied my poster from Maps & Measurements GEOG 2100 class to this class since both of them pertained to the UN Millenium Development Goals.

I really enjoyed this project because it taught me how hard it was to find data and it gave me the freedom to do it on what I wanted, created my maps how I wanted and laid it out how I wanted. I love it when I get the freedom to design something myself, it gives off a lot of satisfaction to know that I did everything myself (well sort of).

I took me awhile to find the data and find out what I wanted to do for the poster. I knew I wanted to do something about education because I know it's very important and I know that  many kids are not able to have an education. Having to grow up with my foreign parents made me understand that I'm really lucky when it comes to education.

I picked a country that has a low literacy rate that not many people focus on. We focused on Haiti, but that was when the earthquake hit but after awhile, it died down and everyone's forgetting about them again.

I wanted to do my project on rebuilding schools but didn't have enough data to do it so I changed my subject to just trying to map out some of the causes of illiteracy in Haiti.

I thought I did pretty well on my poster. I felt a little bit OCD and kept changing map layouts and positions. I couldn't be satisfied with it and even now I would like to change some maps but I know, I still would'nt be satisfied with it. I'm not sure why. But this project was fun. I love working with GIS and I love using my creativity.
