• FL125 Union - I am on the newsletter committee, I'm a trustee and I help organize the bulletin board in our Regional Office.
  • The Forest Service Worker's Association - I love being the FSWA more than anything because of the fundraisers we would arrange and organize for the families in the Forest Service. I love helping people who needs it.
  • Work Related Experience -
    • They've broaden my horizons and put my skills to good use. I first worked on their new national database/application for Forest Monitoring Plans. I helped populate and improve the monitoring database.
    • They later had me do various Excel spreadsheets, where I learned that I loved organizing and creating spreadsheets and entering functions.
    • I later on was given the task of plotting various vegetation and terrains on ArcGIS. It was really simple ArcGIS work where I just made points and populated their attributes. So far, I've done it for three forests.
    • I also helped schedule and arrange a PC Deployment Replacement for our whole Regional Office.
    • In addition to plotting for different forests, I am working with ArcGIS in NRIS to migrate data from ArcGIS shapefiles, and their tabular data, into a Threatened and Endangered Species database. I've learned so much more than just plotting points in ArcGIS. I've learned about transformations (datums), Unions, dissolving polygons, editing polygon attributes, and a few more things. I'm still learning at the moment.
    • I'm was kept pretty busy with Printer Replacements for the whole Region 4, which isn't just our Regional Office but all of the ranger districts in our Region in Idaho, Utah, and Nevada. Me and my coworker had to create a spreadsheet, figure out who should have which printer under a certain budget and made sure that people who really needed printers got them.
    • I've participated in a week long ArcGIS meeting and monitoring database conferences. Very long, it lasted all day for the whole week, slightly boring but I've learned so much more about GIS.
    • Occasionally, I will help other people in our office with computer, printer, or copying troubleshooting.
    • Oh and if I'm lucky, I'd be in stuck in the building on lockdown because some idiot decides to stick an envelope with white substances inside the IRS mailroom. That taught me how scary being a government worker can be...even if it's a small role. :]
